Been awhile…

Work at STAWA has gotten a little quiet.  Part of me is a little bit over working there.  Don’t get me wrong, I like working at STAWA, I’m just in a personal funk.  I’ve just been feeling blah about a lot of things.  I think it’s partly because I’m not feeling motivated to do anything lately.  Work, writing, hanging out with friends…I just want to crawl into bed and sleep…and I’m not even tired or anything.  I’ve had a few off nights, but I’ve been sleeping well lately, so it’s not that.

I’m loving working at Kids Inn.  Maybe that’s it.  I need to rethink my position in the workforce.  Perhaps I should go fulltime into childcare?  I don’t know.  I really like working where I’m at right now.  The kids are great, even though some of them can be right little so-and-so’s sometimes.  But, I really, really enjoy working there, nonetheless.

Guess what?  I’m going to Soundwave next year.  And guess what else?  Avenged Sevenfold will be there.  Seeing them live will definitely make my life.  I have to say, seeing them live will most likely trump seeing Simple Plan.

The bittersweet thing, though, is that I won’t ever get to see Jimmy ‘The Rev’ play with them.  I’m sure Mike Portnoy will do the drummer justice, but I can’t help but feel gypped that I never got the chance to see A7X as the full band.

It will be an experience, though.  My first major music festival.  I never was ever interested in the Big Day Out, or Southbound or any of those others.  The bands didn’t really excite me.  I would like to see Eskimo Joe and The Living End, though.

I think I’ve used the word ‘though’ a lot in this blog… oh well.  My writing has improved since I first started back in…um…probably 2000 or even before then.  I started writing semi-serious fics back in 1999, even though [there I go again with that word…] it was kind of silly stories about my crush…and talking animals and stuff.  [Stuff is a good scientific term.  And ‘thing’ is as well…]  But, I can tell you I have definitely gotten better, and that’s not boasting.  I can see the improvement.

I have so many ideas floating around in my mind, but none of them I can really pin down.  My latest venture is exciting, though.

It’s called Shadows Creed, and is a fanfic [A7X], but the premise is so different, to me at least, that I reckon I could write it as an original.

The basic gist is this:  Bands are outlawed.  Politicians are using solo artists to garner popularity.  The law is upheld by The Creed.  The Creed is a force responsible for eliminating renegade musicians.  One man decides it’s time for a change.  Time to crush the oppression and bring rock and roll back into the world.  There is one problem.  This one man is The Creed’s most trusted.

So, there it is.  Of course, the story I’m writing now is based around the guys in Avenged, but I could so easily modify it to use my original characters.  But, I will probably endeavour to work on the idea later on in the year.

I also want to try and write an all Aussie based fic.  But, we’ll see.

Anyways, signing off, g’night all.

Random thoughts at the end of another week

Good evening,

Just some random thoughts for you to chew on, or not, since it’s not food.

  1. I’m not sure how it works, but sometimes I latch onto a song and it’ll wind its way into my mind, and heart and I just can’t get sick of listening to it.  Very few songs fit the bill, but the ones that do, include Perfect World (Simple Plan) and Victim (A7X).  Others would be, Bye Bye Bye (*NSYNC), He Don’t Love You (Human Nature) Hole in the World (The Eagles), Love Changes Everything (Michael Ball) and No Ordinary World (John Farnham).  PW and V top the list, though.
  2. I really really like Nic’s cupcakes.
  3. I crave marshmallows at that time of the month.
  4. I once listened to a song so much it sounded like it had gone out of tune.  And no it wasn’t a tape that had worn.
  5. I really want to go see the Tomorrow When the War Began movie.  I read the novels when I was younger, and had a huge crush on Homer Yannos.  I think he was seriously my first fictional crush…lol.
And that’s it.  Night everyone.  No thought for the night tonight.

This week and the previous one…

So a few things have happened over the past few weeks that I would like to recap:

  1. I’ve finished two gratifying weeks at the OSHC centre and am looking forward to more good days.  The other two women in the room are great.  I feel welcomed by them and the kids.  For some reason I’ve managed to click with quite a few of the kids.  And apparently I’ve become liked by most them quite quickly.  Apparently, I’m also pretty good at remembering names.  I’m still waiting for my personal key-tag and I don’t get my pay for the fortnight until Tuesday.  But that’s all good.
  2. I might not need Centrelink payment very soon… if I have six times at getting $0 from them then the allowance is cancelled.
  3. I’ve come to the realisation that I actually look forward to going to work in the afternoons.
  4. We’re learning ‘Our God’ for Church this coming Tuesday night.  God must’ve put the song in my heart…because I’ve already listened to it too many times to count.
  5. Bible class has been eye-opening so far.  I’ve never had the chance to sit down and look at The Bible as a whole book.  It’s extremely interesting, but at the same time helps to inform my faith.
  6. I honestly cannot understand why people reject or hate or refuse to believe in any form of religion.  I guess it may have to do with the negative things some religions have been associated with.  In a way, I’m not exactly an advocate of strict religion.  I’m a little jaded with traditional Presbyterian-ism.  Guess that’s why Riverview is my home Church and not the WPC that my Mum goes to.
  7. I do respect what other people believe and I hope I do not come across as forceful when I’m trying to discuss my own beliefs…
  8. Mibba.com forums are my second home for religious discussions and the like…
  9. I’m still listening to Nightmare the album.  I have it in my car and I can listen to the whole album in a day while driving to and from my two jobs.  However, at home and on my iPod I tend to listen mostly to Victim, Tonight the World Dies and Fiction.
  10. The only other music I’ve been listening to with any regularity is Simple Plan’s Perfect World, The Eagles’ Hole in the World, Hillsong’s The One Who Saves and Chris Tomlin’s Our God.
And that’s all for tonight, heading off to an early night… got a lergy…need to sleep.

It’s Late!

Yeah, it’s past ten and I’m still on the net.  My brother has friends over…and they’re playing world cup soccer on the XBox, or something.

Anyway, since my last blog, I’ve been slogging away.  Here’s a few things.

  1.  I didn’t get that fundraising job.  And Dad says he never wants me to go and apply for that sort of job, anyway.  Thanks for telling me after the fact…
  2. I might get a job at a childcare, though.  After hours.
  3. The weekend at Northam was fun…and COLD.  It was MINUS 0.5 degrees Celcisus on the Saturday morning!
  4. I’m still working at STAWA
  5. I’m still writing…

And that’s about it.

Oh, ‘Nightmare’ comes out on the 30th of July on itunes here in Australia [Avenged Sevenfold’s new album for anyone who doesn’t know.]  I bought A Beautiful Exchange [Hillsong’s new album] off itunes.

And that’s about it.  So, yes.

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
