January 2017

What a whirlwind of a month.  It’s hard to believe it’s the first day of February already.  So much has happened this month.  Or perhaps not that much, depending on how you look at it.  Here’s a list.

  • We’re finally settled in our new house.  Another rental, but much larger than our previous one.  We have a 12 month lease here and it feels like home.
  • We had an Australia Day BBQ at our place with friends, which was a lot of fun.  I got baby cuddles and cuddles from the hubby’s Goddaughter.  Love her to bits.
  • Hubby and I have had a bad run of illness this month.  I am so ready for a clean slate.
  • Hubby turns FORTY on Friday.  The big 4-0! Wild stuff.  Though I’m sure he doesn’t feel like partying since he’s still not feeling well.  We’re having lunch on Saturday with his parents and my parents at a pub that  is close to home.
  • Work is getting busier, which makes the days go faster.  I love my job.  I love the children.  I call them my children.  The sense of belonging is almost ridiculous.  We’re one big family at my centre.  Some of the exchanges with the children are hilarious, others just fill my heart to bursting.  And the appreciation that the parents show is phenomenal.  I am so blessed; God is so good.
  • We are looking for a new home church.  Riverview is a little too far away for us to attend there on a regular basis now.  The mega church will hold a special place in my heart though.  How can it not?  This would be my tenth year of calling the place my church home.
  • I’ve had some down moments over the past month.  Hubby and I talked about how my lows for awhile were quite low.  Not quite in the depression range, but troubling enough for him to mention it.  There are several factors behind it, though.  My anxiety over his health, and my biological urge to become a mother.
  • I’ve started a book reading challenge.  I want to read 12 books this year at the bare minimum. I’ve read the first book on my list (see below) already.

1.  Dane Swan: My Story [11.01.2017 – 20.01.2017]
2. The Hunchback of Notre Dame – Victor Hugo [started 20.01.2017]
3. The Beast – JR Ward
4. The Circle – Ted Dekker – Black
5. Did God Really Command Genocide – Paul Copan & Matthew Flannagan
7. The Circle – Ted Dekker – Red
8. The Girl on the Train – Paula Hawkins
10. The Circle – Ted Dekker – White
11. Gone Girl – Gillian Flynn
12. The Circle – Ted Dekker – Green
13. The Descent of Man – Charles Darwin
14. Blood Vow – JR Ward
Bonus – The Chosen – JR Ward

Any other books read this year will be considered a bonus.

  • I finished reading Les Miserables (Victor Hugo) on New Year’s Day; wow, what a tome! I feel a sense of triumph having read it after having attempted it several times in previous years.
  • I watched two movies I never watched before at the end of the month: Demolition Man and Beyond the Heavens.
  • We now have Foxtel installed with the sport activated so when footy season begins we can watch Fox Footy!
  • We’ve been watching the Big Bash and wow some awesome matches were played.  And the Scorchers won!  Way to go WA!
  • So…health wise January was a write-off,  but there were quite a lot of positives this month.
  • Bring on February!
